Laukvik is a fishing village with 450 inhabitants, situated on the north-west coast of the Lofoten Islands. It's also the prime place to watch the Northern Lights because these often start at the north sky. There is little "lightpolution" in Laukvik.
Lauvik has a busy fishingport with 10 to 15 fishing vessels.
The sportsfisherman can catch big fish here.
Nature offers very fine walks, both in the mountains and in the valleys.
Various reasonable priced overnight accomodation is available. Camping, huts, accomodation at private homes and seamen's lodgings (rorbu). Cafe and restaurant at the harbour.
As Lauvik is "off the beaten path" for tourists it's easy to get in touch with locals and enjoy together with them the genuine Lofoten atmosphere.
For example fishing in the midnightsun and thereafter eating your fresh catch!
